Dear Sir,
First of all let me congratulate you for your efforts. However, I would like to know the status of your trees before and during application of ethephon- tapping system followed, was it daily/alternate daily/third daily. What was the concentration of ethephon used. How many times you have applied ethephon to the trees. Todate, the only relationship which is scientifically proved is between brown bast and tapping frequency only. We can induce brown bast for more than 90 percent trees within one month just by tapping two times a day only. Judicious use of ethephon for long term under rubber board recommended level is not at all harmful.Pl.refer (tapping systems-Low frequency tapping) rubberboard website for more details or contact me.

Dr.K.U.Thomas: First of all I want to congratulate you for your valuable response. Sir I applied stimulant ethephon diluted in coconut oil and applied as lace application and tapping was carried out once in three days. Actual problem was soil is sandy and tapping done in summer. The input to prepare carbohydrates became defficient and phloem became dry on many trees. Now I felt that the best way to increase productivity is balanced input and application of magnesium to soil above 6.5 pH in summer or after controlled burning with in the estates in summer rain. I am now applying biogas slery instead of NPK. Non of the fertilizer applying except magnesium sulphate. Now brown bast effected trees are recovered and I have to wait for 3 years more to build up sufficient food storage for those trees. Thanks a lot
